The traditional curtain raiser to the Premier League season, the Community Shield, takes place this weekend at Wembley. FA Cup holders Arsenal take on Premier League winners Chelsea in what promises to be a good clash, despite a few star names likely to be missing.
Bragging rights are up for grabs and both clubs will be wanting to take home the first silverware of the season on Sunday.
The build up to this game has been more about who will not play, rather than who will play on Sunday. Alexis Sanchez is likely to be kept out by Arsene Wenger, he returned from Chile on Tuesday with an illness and will this game is probably going to come too soon for him. One player who will feature though is new club record signing Alexandre Lacazette, who will be desperate to impress his new fans.
For Chelsea, Diego Costa will not feature in the game after being told he can leave the club. That means Alvaro Morata, his replacement, will feature and potentially play alongside Michy Batshuayi in a potentially lethal strike partnership.
Eden Hazard is another who will not play after knee surgery in the summer and the game has come too soon for him.
Going into this one, Arsenal look to have had the better preparation and have more of their first team squad to choose from.
That should balance things out, giving us a very even contest here between the two London neighbours.
Neither team will be at full strength this weekend so that adds even more intrigue to this contest.
We should still get a good game between these two, with the missing players making it quite an even contest and I am struggling to split them, which is always a good sign before a game.
If I had to make a bet it has to be Chelsea at 13/10.
