The English Premier League kicks off over the weekend and the first game is between Arsenal and Leicester on Friday night. After a victory in the Community Shield, Arsenal should be up for this one and I can see them beating Leicester comfortably.
Arsenal rounded off their mixed pre-season with the Community Shield victory, a win that came at just the right time. They head into the new season without star man Alexis Sanchez through injury, although new signing Alexandre Lacazette will play and fans will be hoping he can bag a goal in his first Premier League game.
After finishing 5th last season, all eyes will be on Arsenal as they look to get back into the top four, although with so many quality teams around them, it won’t be easy.
Leicester also start the season on the back of a good win, they won their final pre-season game against Borussia Monchengladbach 2-1 last Friday. However, one trend they have had in pre-season has been their lack of goals. They have scored just six goals from seven games in pre-season, with four of those games coming against lower league opposition.
They have tried to solve that by bringing in forward Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City, although I am sure he will take time to settle in the Leicester team. The Foxes will also be hoping his arrival can be a boost for Jamie Vardy, who would love to return to the form of their title winning season.
With Arsenal playing at home and starting their campaign on the back of a Comminity Shield victory, I think they will have enough to beat Leicester in the opening game.
With Leciester struggling for goals and the Emirates being a tough place to play, I can see Arsenal winning the game comfotably in the end, and they are strong favourites to do so.
Bet365 go 6/5 on the Arsenal Win/Over 2/5 goals double and that price looks pretty worthy of backing.
