Friday night football returns this week and it sees south coast rivals Bournemouth and Brighton go head to head at the Vitality Stadium.
The Cherries have suffered four league defeats on the bounce, sit second from bottom and have only scored once in 360 minutes. That said Bournemouth have faced two of the Premier League’s top 4 hopefuls already, so it’s not been the easiest of starts.
Meanwhile newly promoted Brighton registered their first ever Premier League win last time out with a thumping 3-1 victory over high flying West Brom and will be full of confidence heading into the derby. After back to back defeats the Seagulls have picked up 4 points from their last two games and are currently 14th in the table.
Summer signing Pascal Groß is finally up and running in the Premier League, bagging a brace against the Baggies.
Bournemouth will be without Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser while Junior Stanislas and Adam Federici remain doubts. Eddie Howe will be hoping attacking trio Jermain Defoe, Josh King and Benik Afobe can start banging in the goals. King, who bagged a career best 16 Premier League goals last season, is 11/2 to score first on Friday.
Chris Hughton will be without a number of players including Beram Kayal, Sam Baldock, Steve Sidwell and Isaiah Brown.
This will be the first ever meeting between the two sides in the Premier League, and despite being only four games into the new campaign you’d have to say it’s must win for the Cherries.
Bournemouth are winless in four but were impressive against Man City last time they played at home, while Brighton are yet to win on the road this season so something must give on Friday. Collectively the two sides have scored just 4 goals in 8 Premier League games this season, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a low scoring game.
I fancy Bournemouth to stop the rot and bag all three points against their south coast rivals In a tight game. Bournemouth win and under 2.5 goals at 5/2 looks a good bet.
