The Championship season begins on Friday when Nottingham Forest take on Millwall in one of two games that are taking place that night.
Millwall found their way back into the Championship this summer after winning the League One playoffs and they will have their sights on remaining in the division this season, while Forest will see themselves finishing much higher.
Nottingham Forest will really fancy their chances of finishing in the top half this season and I would have to agree with them, they have a young, exciting squad capable of doing well.
They have great attacking options in Zach Clough, Daryl Murphy and Ben Brereton, who even at their young ages have the potential to do some real damage against very experienced defenders this season. Assombalonga has left for Middlesbrough in a £15m deal but Mark Warburton has invested wisely during the summer.
They are going to be exciting to watch this season if nothing else, although I do believe Forest have the quality to do well.
Millwall will want to stay in the Championship this season, although in my opinion it is going to be a tough task for them. They made their mark on League One by playing a very simple style, relying on crossing balls into Steve Morrison.
However, they are going to have to find a Plan B in the Championship, because that will not work. Morrison will not bully teams as easily, and crosses into the box are much harder to create.
I can see Millwall struggling here in the Championship unless they change their ways quickly.
Those struggles look likely to start right at the beginning of the season with a very tough trip up to Forest.
I have high expectations of Nottingham Forest this season and I expect they will do well, starting in this home fixture, which is a great way to ease into the Championship season.
Bet365 offer 5/2 on Forest to cover the -1 handicap and thats a price I simply cannot ignore.
