West Brom face Bournemouth in what looking like being a tight encounter on the opening day of the Premier League season. Last season Bournemouth finished just one place ahead of West Brom in the middle of the Premier League at it looks likely that the same will happen again. I have higher hopes for Bournemouth, but not by much.
The biggest signing that either of these two have made has been the arrival of Jermain Defoe at Bournemouth. He has signed on a free transfer from Sunderland and looks set to score goals for them this season. He managed to score plenty for Sunderland, playing with a team that were relegated and lacked creativity so he should do even better for Bournemouth. They have also signed youngster Nathan Ake on a permanent deal from Chelsea and I am excited to see what he can do at Bournemouth permanently, away from the big club scene at Chelsea.
One player West Brom have brought in is Jay Rodriguez, who knows the Premier League and gives them another threat going forward. The quiet summer from both of these shows that they were happy with last season and their expectations for the upcoming campaign are very similar.
Both clubs will be looking to get off to a good start and with how tight the Premier League table was last season, every point will count, even at this early stage of the season.
One thing West Brom do at home is keep things very tight, they are tough to break down even for a big team and that is why I think this will be a tight game, but I believe both teams have the ability to score goals though.
Im backing Eddie Howe’s men at 2/1.
